Several days a year the museum hosts day-long Lighthouse Adventure Cruises aboard a private charter vessel. The cruise departs from the Calvert Marine Museum at 7:45 a.m. and returns approximately 5 p.m.
Cost: $130; $120 for Calvert Marine Museum Members.
Participants will see Point No Point, Point Lookout, Smith Point, Solomons Lump, Hooper Island and Drum Point Lighthouse as they cruise aboard a private charter boat. Lunch is on your own at the Bayside Inn on Smith Island, or you can pack a lunch.
The Rockstar is a 44 foot Chesapeake Bay style vessel with very limited cover. It is recommended that you wear hats and sunscreen, bring bottled water and a jacket in case of rain if predicted.
Lighthouse Adventure Cruises are weather dependent excursions. In the event of hazardous or inclement conditions on the water, trips may be cancelled. Cruises will take place under moderate weather conditions (including light rain), but the captain or guide may cancel a cruise up to an hour before the start time of a cruise if conditions on the Chesapeake Bay are unsafe for small craft. In the event of a cancellation, the guide will notify participants using e-mail and phone information provided during the registration process. Registered participants will receive a refund and may re-register online for a future trip.
