Dear Antique Boat and Marine Engine Enthusiast:

We would like to invite you to the 7th Chesapeake Antique Boat & Marine Engine Show. Bring your special marine engines or vintage boats to our friendly and informal gathering on Saturday, May 5, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 6, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Calvert Marine Museum. There is no registration fee and other costs have been kept to a minimum, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors.

Exhibitors are asked to complete the registration form. The event is open to collectors of pre-1975 outboard and inboard engines, antique marine steam engines, and model engines. Antique and classic boats of all kinds can be displayed on trailers or afloat in the museum's boat basin. If you want the museum to provide preprinted display cards, please fill in the back of the registration form. The registration form needs to be returned by April 25, 2007.

Click Here for a list of local accommodations. For your convenience we have reserved a block of rooms for Friday and Saturday nights at the nearby Holiday Inn at a reduced rate of $82 per night. These rooms have been reserved until April 4. When calling, please mention that these rooms have been reserved under IDCO4, Calvert Marine Museum, for use by exhibitors at the show.

On-site trailer camping is available on the fenced-in grounds of the museum, and water and limited electricity will be available for those who need it. Security will be provided on Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m. Boats can be launched at the public boat ramp beneath the bridge.

On Saturday, entrance to the museum and grounds is free. Entrance stickers will be provided for use on Sunday. "Swapping" may be done at your convenience throughout the show. Although there will be no judging, each exhibitor will receive a commemorative plaque of the event. We are again offering exhibitors a 24" x 30" display panel. If you have photographs of an interesting restoration project, the museum will professionally dry mount them along with any text. Deadline for this service is April 23. Please contact me if interested by email.

This year the show will be held in conjunction with the Solomons Maritime Festival. The festival will take place only on Saturday, May 5, and will offer activities both inside the museum and on the grounds. Some of the activities planned include traditional music, waterfowl and model boat carving, Chesapeake Bay retriever trials, traditional foods, crafts demonstrations, children's model boatbuilding and games, and a nautical flea market. A schedule of events for the entire weekend will be mailed with your acknowledgment.

Food is always an important consideration for exhibitors, so we will once again offer our waterside barbeque on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. If you wish to join us, please include a check for $10 per person, payable to the Calvert Marine Museum, to help cover expenses. This will be limited to ninety persons, on a first-come-first served basis. Breakfast on Sunday morning will again be offered free to exhibitors. After breakfast we are offering several choices of activities to exhibitors and guests (see enclosed).

We look forward to seeing you in Solomons, May 5-6.

Regards,

Richard J. Dodds

2007 Chesapeake Antique Boat & Marine Engine Show

Dear Exhibitor,

This year, the organizers are considering adding an event to the Sunday schedule. Saturday will be a busy day, but Sunday is devoted to exhibitors and their guests, so two options are proposed:

Visit historic Sotterley Plantation, an 18th century tidewater tobacco plantation on the banks of the Patuxent River. Sunday 12 – 2 pm. Cost $8 adults, $7 seniors and $5 ages 6-12. Limit 13
“Using the Internet to Buy/Sell Engines and Parts” - a roundtable discussion at the museum, Sunday 11 – 12 am.

Please check if either of these options is of interest and return with your registration. We will let you know of the response in our acknowledgment.

Thanks,

Richard J. Dodds
