"I think I found something."

And here it is!! A 5" baleen whale caudal vertebra and there's another one right next too it in the hole! We immediately informed the good folks of the VMNH and then had to move to a new spot at the other end of the quarry. The VMNH crew will quarry the rest of the find in 2003. We (Amy Lore, Jayson Kowinsky and myself) were in the new spot not 5 minutes when we found another caudal vertebra at the new site. The VMNH came and checked it out. Turns out it's a straggler from a string of 15 others that they had removed earlier from the same spot in Spring 2002. Both finds were on the spot donated to the VMNH.
