Choosing to give to the Calvert Marine Museum demonstrates your belief in the goals and vision of the museum: investment in the education of our children; preservation of our culture; and stewardship of our environment. Over the past 40 years, donations have been the foundation of the museum’s growth, producing new exhibits, increasing our educational outreach, and helping to preserve some of our historic regional treasures. We count on the generosity of people like you to support our work and thank you for wanting to share your good fortune with others.
Members and friends may support The Calvert Marine Museum in a number of ways. The most common forms of giving are outright gifts of cash and securities, but there are other types of assets that may be donated as well and planned giving options that have favorable financial and tax benefits. While your generosity can certainly improve the community in which you live and work, it can also help you financially. Please take a look at some of the giving options listed below, and thank you for helping the museum survive and prosper.
General Donation
We welcome you to become a part of the museum’s giving circle. The most straightforward approach when making a charitable donation is an outright unrestricted gift, which can include cash and securities.
If you would like to make a general donation to the museum knowing the museum will use this gift where most needed, please click on this link.
Donations of this kind are 100% tax-deductible and receive no benefits. In recognition of a general donation, a tax letter is mailed to donors shortly after receiving any gifts. Deductions are allowed for up to 50% of your adjusted gross income.
Capital Campaign
With the strong support of the Calvert County Government as our foundation, we are now ready to embrace the future by taking the first step in our new Master Plan: to renovate and expand the Exhibition Building. By maximizing use of our existing facility, we will be able to triple usable space available for educational programming and provide far greater flexibility in our ability to respond to community needs. We are not building in the hopes of attracting new audiences; rather we are responding to a clear and growing demand for the museum's offerings.
This $2 million project requires a combination of private and public funding. The CMM Coming of Age Campaign has a goal of raising $500,000 in private funding to leverage $1.5 million in public monies. We invite you to join us in making the museum's vision a reality.
