CMM Member Camp-Ins  and Overnight Adventures  at the Calvert Marine Museum

Want to experience the Calvert Marine Museum is a whole new way? Try our overnight programs. Designed to offer an in-depth museum experience mixed with behind-the-scenes fun.

CMM Overnight Camp-Ins: Another CMM Member Benefit

Experience the museum in a whole new way when you sleep over with the sting rays and otters. This is an ideal adventure for church groups, scout troops, community organizations and families. Imagine watching the moon rise behind the Drum Point Lighthouse, going on a treasure hunt in the museum at night, eating S'mores around a camp fire, or seeing a theme-appropriate movie, complete with popcorn.

If you really want to give your child that utlimate birthday party, then sign on for a Birthday Overnight , choosing one of our Camp-In themes. Themed cakes available by special order and fee. "Goodie Bags" also available at $2 each and advance notice.

The fee is $35 per person and requires a minimum of 12, or a minimum fee of $420, with a maximum of 25 participants. One adult is required for every 5 children. There is a non-refundable registration fee of $25 due when you reserve your date.

Your fun-filled Overnight Camp-In or Birthday Camp-In includes...

  • An indoor overnight experience
  • A nocturnal tour of the museum
  • A special themed craft activity or game
  • A theme appropriate movie
  • A pizza party

Choose one of these themes for your Camp-In:

PIRATES ON THE PATUXENT
Paint treasure chests, go on a treasure hunt, learn pirate lingo and play the Mutiny Game.

FOSSIL HUNTERS
Make your own fossil, learn how to extract real fossils from matrix like the paleontologists do, make a shark tooth necklace.

MERMAIDS HAVE A BALL
Paint a treasure box to hold your jewels, play "Find the Mermaid" game, get dressed up and attend the Mermaid Ball.

OUTRAGEOUS OTTERS
Get personal with Bubbles and Squeak with a behind-the-scenes visit. Learn amazing otter facts, play "You Otter Know." Includes breakfast with the otters.

ADVENTURES ON THE HIGH SEAS
Take a boat in the Discovery Room apart and learn how to put it back together. Learn how to tie knots like a sailor. Build your own toy boat to take home.

Cost: $35 person. Your group needs a minimum of twelve people, or a minimum fee of $420. This includes a non-refundable $25 deposit to hold your date.

Maximum group size: 25 persons

Requirements:

  • Camp-In is for children 7-12 years of age and requires one chaperone per 5 children.
  • A CMM Member must sponsor your camp-in.

Cancellation Policy: If you cancel five or less business days prior to your Camp-In date, there will be cancellation fee of $75 charged. With earlier cancellations, all but $25 deposit will be refunded.

How to schedule a Camp-In: We schedule Camp-Ins on demand, but dates are limited to etiher Friday or Saturday night, or a night before a school holiday. We do need 3 weeks minimum to schedule.

Girl Scout Overnights at CMM

Try our overnight programs for Girl Scouts. Designed for groups with a minimum of 10 people to maximum of 20 people, overnights offer an in-depth museum experience mixed with behind-the-scenes fun. It's also a good way for scouts to earn "Try-Its" and badges.

Fees for Overnight
The cost is $25 per person, and includes admission to the museum, an interpreter lead program and activity, a pizza dinner and a continental breakfast. A non-refundable $25 registration fee is required with your registration form. Payment is due one month prior to your visit.

Brownies can complete the following Try-It programs:

  • In the Mud
  • In the Bay
  • In the Wind
  • Lighthouse
  • Native American Lore         

Girl Scouts can complete the following Badge programs:

  • In the Mud
  • In the Bay
  • In the Wind
  • Lighthouse
  • Native American Lore

Programs
After spending the afternoon touring the msueum's various exhibits, visitors will have a pizza dinner, thenn spend the night in the Estuarium. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are available.
An interpreter will lead the group on a tour of the museum, follwed by a crafts activity.
