  Public Cruise on the Dee of St. Mary's
The museum offers two-hour public sails aboard the historic skipjack Dee of St. Mary’s departing at 2 p.m. and returning at 4 p.m. from the Lore Oyster House in Solomons, Maryland. This is a great way to experience the Patuxent River aboard an iconic Chesapeake workboat. The fee is $25 per person, 12 and up, $15 for children 8 - 12. No children under 8, please. Celebrate our annual Solomons Island Kite Day with Wings Over Washington Kite Club. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Glascock's Field (located across the street from the museum). Bring your own kite or make one at the museum. Kite kits will be on sale for $5 each, cash only. Admission is FREE and open to the public. General museum admission applies for visitation to the exhibition gallery.   Historic 1812 Sunset Supper Cruise
During the bicentennial of the War of 1812, Southern Maryland is celebrating its role with this special cruise. Visit the historic location of the largest water based battle in Maryland's history with experts, Dr. Ralph Eshelman and Don Shomette, both published 1812 authors and respected lecturers. Cruise departs from the museum on the Wm. B. Tennison and travels up the Patuxent into the mouth of St. Leonard's Creek where you will hear the exciting story of local hero Joshua Barney's courageous standoff with the mightiest sea power in the world. A light supper is included, and participants are invited to bring their own libations. FEE: $50 per person and reservations are required by the Wednesday prior to the cruise date.
