Capt. John Smith's 1608 Chesapeake Voyage

Landfall

Approaching the 400th Commemoration of Jamestown in 2007, the LANDFALL expedition will recreate Captain John Smith's 1608 voyage around the Chesapeake Bay. Susan Schmidt and student crew will make Landfall to imagine how John Smith and early colonists saw the New World's shoreline.

Come cruise through the pages to find out about this expedition. See the history of Captain John Smith unfold before your eyes. Also track the progress of the voyage, and browse through the photos. This site is a precursor to a book Susan Schmidt will write, called LANDFALL, that will combine cultural geography and natural history with an adventure story of the expedition.
