DECEMBER EVENTS AT CMM
Put the Calvert Marine Museum at the top of your list of places to visit this holiday season. Activities and events are planned for all members of the family. See the beautiful artwork displayed in the lobby by third, fourth, and fifth grade students from the Calverton School. The art show will be in the museum lobby through the end of December. Tuesday, December 1 – Sea Squirts
10:00 – 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The Long Sleep. Free program for children 18 months to 3 years old and their caregivers.
Friday, December 4 & Saturday, December 5 – Solomons Christmas Walk
6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The museum is open and free to the public. Enjoy musical entertainment, refreshments, Santa, the Otter, holiday crafts, and shopping in the Museum Store on both nights. Santa’s Coffee House will be open Saturday with complimentary hot tea, coffee, hot cocoa, and holiday cookies. Museum members will save 20% off in the Store all weekend!
Sunday, December 6 – Member’s Only Yule Party
12:00 noon – 4:00 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. Spend time with friends; shop in the museum store, and visit with special guests, Squeak the River Otter and Santa. Admission to the party is a contribution of your favorite holiday fare on a disposable dish. CMM will provide drinks and sweets. The Museum Store is open to the public all day with 20% off for CMM members.

Sessions at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Register at the admissions desk on the day of the programs. Space is limited; $4.00 fee per child.

10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. See a naturalist from the Department of Natural Resources presenting Scales and Tales, a 45-minute presentation highlighting several animals. For children ages 18 months to 3 years old. Free program sponsored by PNC Grow Up Great!

Friday, December 18 – Maritime Performance Series presents EVA performing The Turning of the Year
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. Celebrate the holidays with the international band EVA. Featuring breathtaking voices with roots in Australia, Ireland, the UK & the USA, EVA performs a seamless mix of traditional and contemporary original folk music. This special holiday show features Kath Buckell, Liz Simmons and Melissa McMillan blending the sounds of the piano, guitar, percussion, and harmonious vocals, melding worldly sensibilities with time-honored musical traditions. Tickets are $10 per person in advance; $15 at the door and can be purchased at www.bit.ly//MaritimeConcerts. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with beer and wine for sale.

10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Learn about the amazing animals in our aquarium. Free with museum admission. Check the daily events schedule at the admissions desk.
Tuesday, December 22 - Winter Wishes
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. What are your hopes and wishes for the New Year? Make a paper ornament with your secret wish written inside to hang in the Discovery Room. Ongoing program throughout the day; free with museum admission.
Wednesday, December 23 - Ornament Workshop
1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Register at the admission desk the day of the program. Space is limited; fee is $4.00 per child.

Christmas Day - MUSEUM CLOSED
Saturday, December 26 – Build A Toy Boat
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Make your own toy boat in the Maritime History Hall with sessions starting on the half hour. $2 donation requested with museum admission.
Monday, December 28 - Snow Globe Workshop
1:00 p.m. and every 30 minutes on the half hour. Make snow globes out of recycled jelly jars. Create your own winter wonderland in a jar, while supplies last. Each session limited to 20 children. Sign up in the Discovery Room. Fee is $2.00 per child with museum admission.

Make a party hat and New Year’s wish ornament, hear a special story, enjoy Nicolo Whimsey, the juggler, and join the dance party with Bubbles. Toast in the NOON Year with sparkling ginger ale and fishy snacks when the ball drops at high noon. Fee is $2 per child with museum admission.

The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $9.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, military with valid I.D. and AAA members, and $4.00 for children ages 5 - 12; children under 5 and museum members are always admitted free.
