Saturday, October 1 – Lighthouse Adventure Cruise: Southern Bay
7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Participants will see six lighthouses as they cruise aboard a private charter boat with the museum’s lighthouse expert. The cost is $130; $120 for members. Registration required at least 5 business days in advance. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41 to register.
Thursday, October 6 – 2016 PEM Talks presents Dr. Ralph Eshelman
7 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. PEM Talks focuses on Vanished Steamboats: The Maritime Art of C. Leslie Oursler, the exhibit currently on display in the Mezzanine Gallery. Dr. Eshelman will discuss how steamboat wharves and landings became the focal point of social and commercial activity on the waterfront. FREE lecture.
Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9 – Patuxent River Appreciation Days
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Celebrate the River with free fun for all members of the family! Enjoy an Arts and Crafts Fair, live music on two stages, boat rides, toy boat building, great food, and free admission. Parade is on Sunday at 2 p.m. Visit the website at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com for more details.

10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Theme is Animal Babies. Free drop-in program for children 18-months to 3 years and their caregivers.
Friday, October 14 – Tim and Savannah Finch with The Eastman String Band
7 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. Good Deale Bluegrass founder and multi-instrumentalist, Tim Finch teams up with the sweet vocals and songwriting styles of Savannah Finch to create a unique melding of the roots of Bluegrass with Americana exemplifying an “Alt-grass” sound. The Eastman String Band mixes heartfelt originals with the high energy instrumentals and soaring harmonies! Doors open at 6 p.m. with beer and wine for sale. Tickets are $12 online, $15 at the door.
Saturday, October 15 – Fossil Field Experience
9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Go to a local beach and explore the fossils of Calvert Cliffs with a trained educator. Get a special tour of the fossil hall. For ages 8 and up. Pre-registration required, $20, includes museum admission. Space is limited. Call 410-326-2042 ext. 41.
Thursday, October 20 – Pub Night
7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Bring your friends and enjoy an evening of sea chanteys, nautical theme songs, and hearty cheer. Beer and wine available for sale. Free event.
Friday, October 21 – Dino Daze
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Be a paleontologist for the day; dig for dinosaur bones in the Discovery Room sand box and go on a scavenger hunt filled with fun dinosaur facts that ends with you cracking a dinosaur egg. Make your own dino hat; listen to dinosaur stories; sing special dinosaur songs; and learn the dinosaur stomp dance. Learn all you can about dinosaurs while having fun and playing games – fossil day has never been so exciting! Free with museum admission.
Thursday, October 27 – Little Minnows
10 a.m. – 11 a.m. A program for children age 3 – 5 and their caregivers. Theme is Who’s My Momma? Fee is $5, CMM members are free.
Saturday, October 29 – Aww…Shucks Oyster Social!
4 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the Patuxent Small Craft Center. Join us for a fun-filled fundraiser for our skipjack, the Dee of St. Mary’s. Eat oysters donated by local growers and enjoy delectable hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants. Live music, beer, wine, and a silent auction will round-off this evening of fun and friendship in support of a new mainsail for the Dee. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $9.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, military with valid I.D. and AAA members, and $4.00 for children ages 5 - 12; children under 5 and museum members are always admitted free.
