AN EVENING OF ENCHANTMENT AT THE BUGEYE BALL
April 1 at the Calvert Marine Museum
Join us for an evening of fine cuisine, live entertainment, and casino-style gambling at the Calvert Marine Museum’s annual Bugeye Ball on Saturday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m. An Enchanted Evening features delectable fare by Ken Upton of Ken’s Creative Kitchen, elegant décor, and delightful surprises. Tickets are $150 each and proceeds will support the preservation of the Drum Point Lighthouse. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit http://www.calvertmarinemuseum.com/234/Bugeye-Ball.
The Drum Point Lighthouse is the most recognized symbol of Southern Maryland and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Layers upon layers of paint must be removed from the wooden sides of the cottage and then repainted. The roof, which is original to the 1883 structure, must also have its paint removed and coated with a protective elastomeric compound. The old bulkhead on the eastern side that supports the lighthouse is also failing, and a survey and design for a replacement bulkhead need to be conducted. This project is large and a challenging task. We need your help to preserve this icon of our local heritage.
The Bugeye Ball includes a “Chance to Win” raffle that features two amazing prizes. Only 150 chances are sold ($100 each) and winners need not be present to win. Two winners will be drawn: the first winner in attendance will have first choice of this year’s prizes:
Option 1 – Our featured raffle trip is a one week stay for two in Belize’s boutique resort Beaches & Dreams. From the Barrier Reef and idyllic islands to mysterious Mayan Ruins and jungle waterfalls, Belize holds an unending opportunity for the adventurous traveler to explore. The winners will enjoy complimentary meals, a chef’s dinner, excursions and airfare vouchers valued at $800, as well as transfers to/from the Belize International Airport!
Option 2 – Our featured raffle jewelry selection is an exquisite and unique piece of jewelry from Dickinson’s Jewelers. The collection of jewelry the winner will have to choose from will reflect the splendor of the evening. Each piece is hand selected by Dickinson Jewelers and beautifully crafted with fine metals and precious stones to ensure the winner will cherish the piece forever.
The Calvert Marine Museum is a public, non-profit, educational, and community museum, established in 1970 by local residents. Visitors can explore and learn how our prehistoric past, natural environments, and maritime heritage come together to tell a unique story of the Chesapeake Bay. Raising money through membership, grants, donations, and special events has allowed the museum to grow into an exceptional facility, providing history, education, and culture to all of Southern Maryland.
Business and personal sponsorships ranging from $250 - $10,000 are also available. Please visit www.calvertmarinemuseum.com or call Lisa Howard at 410-326-2042 x16 for more information and to purchase tickets.
