Saturday, May 5 – Solomons Maritime Festival
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. FREE! Celebrate Southern Maryland traditions! Antique boats and motors, master maritime carvers, home crafts and cooking demonstrations, traditional music, children’s games and crafts, toy boat building, and boat rides offer something for all members of the family!
Tuesday, May 8 - Thursday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 16 – Sea Squirts
10 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Tales from the Tackle Box. FREE drop-in program for children 18-months to three years and their caregivers.
Sunday, May 13 – Mother’s Day Brunch Cruise
11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. What better way to say ‘You’re Special’ than a relaxing cruise and brunch aboard the Wm. B. Tennison. Adults are $30, children ages 5 – 12 are $15, and 4 and under $10. Preregistration by May 10 required. Call 410-326-2042, ext. 41 to register.
Sunday, May 13 – Mother’s Day Evening Cruise
5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a perfect ending to Mom’s day with heavy hors d’ oeuvres and a cruise aboard the Wm. B. Tennison. Adults are $30, children ages 5 – 12 are $15, and 4 and under $10. Preregistration required. Call 410-326-2042, ext. 41 to register.
Thursday, May 17 – Special Needs Night
5 – 7 p.m. FREE family fun night for families with special needs offered in cooperation with Calvert County Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Services. The museum will be open exclusively for individuals with special needs and their families or caregivers. Meet “Bubbles” the museum otter mascot. Enjoy the skates and rays, fish, fossils, river otters, maritime history, the Discovery Room, and have fun in a relaxed and supportive environment. The Museum Store will be open and chock full of fun items. The Drum Point Lighthouse will be open and 30 minute cruises will be offered on the Wm. B. Tennison. A model train will be on display, courtesy of the Chesapeake Beach Model Railroad Club.
Friday, May 18 – International Museum Day
International Museum Day has been celebrated all over the world since 1977. The museum is open and FREE to the public from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday, May 19 – Fossil Field Experience
9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Come explore the fossils of Calvert Cliffs with a trained museum educator. Learn where to find fossils, how to identify them, and the secrets they hold about Earth’s prehistory. For ages 8 and up. Cost is $20 and includes museum admission. Space is limited; preregistration required. Call 410-326-2042, ext. 41 to register.

10 a.m. – 11 a.m. World Turtle Day. For children ages 3 to 5 years. Members are FREE; $5 for non-members.
Thursday, May 24 – Gills Club
5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. FREE programs for girls interested in learning more about sharks. Gills Club is a STEM-focused program from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy with activities designed for girls ages 7 – 12. Preregistration is required. Register at www.bit.ly//GillsClubRegistration.
Saturday, May 26 – Build a Toy Boat
2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Make a toy boat in the Maritime History Hall with sessions starting on the half hour. $2 donation per boat requested. For ages 5 and up. Museum admission required.
Saturday, May 26 – Dee of St. Mary’s Public Sail
2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Sail on the Dee of St. Mary’s for the first public sail of the season leaving from the museum dock. Fee is $25 for ages 12 and up, $15 for children 5 – 12. No children under 5 please. Preregistration required, call 410-326-2042 ext. 41 to register.
