SOLOMONS, MD – October 25, 2018 – Fall is in the air and November is a perfect time to visit the Calvert Marine Museum. Activities and events are planned for all members of the family. Visit the website at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com for a complete list of programs.
Saturday, November 3 – National Jellyfish Day
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Children’s activities are ongoing throughout the day. Check the daily events schedule at the admissions desk for special tour times of the Jellyfish exhibit. FREE with museum admission.
Tuesday, November 6; Thursday, November 8; and Wednesday, November 14 – Sea Squirts
10:15 - 10:45 a.m. Theme is Lighthouse Discovery. Free drop-in program for children 18-months to 3 years and their caregivers. If the first session is full, the program will repeat at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, November 6 – STEM Day
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Calvert Marine Museum is presenting the 2nd annual STEM Day. Participants will enjoy a navigation obstacle course, learn how to get the most cargo packed into a ship, and will learn how aerodynamics and sailing go hand in hand. FREE with museum admission. Ideal for 4th grade and up.
Friday, November 9 – Special Needs Night
5 – 7 p.m. FREE fun night for individuals with special needs and their families or caregivers offered in partnership with Calvert County Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Services. Meet “Bubbles” the museum otter mascot. Enjoy the skates and rays, fish, fossils, river otters, Discovery Room, and have fun in a relaxed and supportive environment. See a model train display in the Harms Gallery, courtesy of the Chesapeake Beach Model Railroad Club. The train will be on display through Saturday, November 10 at 1 p.m. The Museum Store will be open and chock full of items.
Sunday, November 11 – “On Watch” Memorial Service
2 p.m. at the site of the “On Watch” statue at the end of Dowell Road, Dowell, Maryland. Join us in thanking our veterans for their service. Refreshments served following the program.
Sunday, November 11 – Veterans Day
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Museum is open and admission is FREE for active military, veterans, and their families.
Friday, November 16 – Maritime Performance Series presents The Honey Dewdrops
7 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. The Maritime Performance Series presents the last show of the year with The Honey Dewdrops, celebrating their 9th year of full-time touring. Laura Wortman and Kagey Parrish are known for their tight harmonies and instrumental accompaniment that includes clawhammer banjo, mandolin, and guitars. After leaving their home base of Virginia and living on the road for two years, the duo now call Baltimore, Maryland home. It’s where they wrote and recorded their fourth full-length album, Tangled Country, released May 2015. This performance is sponsored in part by the Maryland State Arts Council Maryland Touring Grant. Tickets are $15 online, $20 at the door and available at www.bit.ly//MaritimeConcerts. Doors open at 6 p.m. with beer and wine for sale.
Tuesday, November 20 – Museum Members Save 20%
10:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. CMM members are invited to visit the Museum Store for coffee and doughnuts from 10 – 11 a.m. and will receive a FREE can of Crab House Crunch with a $50 or more purchase. Museum members enjoy a 20% discount in the Museum Store all day, and on the 20th of every month!

The Calvert Marine Museum and Museum Store are closed.
Friday, November 23 – American Indian Heritage Day
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Celebrate the culture of the indigenous peoples of Southern Maryland. Check the daily events schedule at the admissions desk for special tour times of our Maritime History exhibits. FREE with museum admission.
Saturday, November 24 – Small Business Saturday – Museum Store
10:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. Shop in the Museum Store and save 20% off when mentioning Small Business Saturday. For more information, call 410-326-2750.
Sunday, November 25 – Museum Store Sunday
10:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. The Museum Store is proud to participate in Museum Store Sunday with more than 800 Museum Stores represented all around the world, in ten countries, and on three continents. 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. A program for children age 3 – 5 and their caregivers. Theme is A Pirate’s Life for Me! Fee is $5, CMM members are FREE.
