SOLOMONS, MD – November 30, 2018 – Happy Holidays from all of us at the Calvert Marine Museum. Lots of activities and events are planned for all members of the family this month. Visit the website at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com for a complete list of programs.
Tuesday, December 4; Thursday, December 6; and Wednesday, December 12 – Sea Squirts
10:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Fossil Exploration. Free program for children 18 months to 3 years old and their caregivers. Space is limited. If first session is full, the program will repeat at 11 a.m.
Friday, December 7 & Saturday, December 8 – Solomons Christmas Walk
6 – 9 p.m. The museum is open and FREE to the public. Enjoy musical entertainment, Santa, the Otter mascot, holiday crafts, and shopping in the Museum Store on both nights. Santa’s Coffee House will be open Saturday with complimentary hot tea, coffee, hot cocoa, and holiday cookies. Museum members will save 20% off in the Museum Store all weekend!
Thursday, December 20 – Museum Members Save 20%
10:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. CMM members are invited to visit the Museum Store for coffee and doughnuts from 10 – 11 a.m. and will receive a FREE mug with a $50 or more purchase. Museum members enjoy a 20% discount in the Museum Store all day, and on the 20th of every month!
Thursday, December 20 – Little Minnows
10:30 – 11:30 a.m. What’s For Lunch? A program for children ages 3 to 5 years and their caregivers. Fee is $5, CMM members are FREE.

Wednesday, December 26 – Winter Wildlife
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Discover the animals that make the wintry waters of the Chesapeake their home. Check the daily events schedule at the admissions desk for special program times. FREE with museum admission.
Thursday, December 27 – Blizzards and Bones
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. At the close of the Miocene Epoch, regional waters began to cool as the world entered a new Ice Age. Discover which animals adapted to these changes and which faced extinction as you explore our Treasures from the Cliffs exhibit. Practice excavating a fossil and make your own fossil mold to take home in sessions at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Activities are appropriate for ages 4 and older. FREE with museum admission.
Friday, December 28 – New Year’s with the Lighthouse Keeper
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Take a step back in time and visit Mrs. Goeshy, the keeper’s wife at the Drum Point Lighthouse. Play period games and help decorate the lighthouse for the New Year! Check the daily events schedule at the admissions desk. FREE with museum admission.
Monday, December 31 – NOON Year’s Eve Party for MEMBERS ONLY!
10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. Make a party hat, New Year’s wish ornament, and join the dance party with Bubbles the otter. Toast in the new year with sparkling ginger ale and fishy snacks when the ball drops at high noon. FREE for CMM members of all ages!

The Museum and Museum Store will be open for members only from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
