SEA GLASS AUTHOR AND EXPERT RICHARD LAMOTTE VISITING CMM
Meet Richard LaMotte, America’s leading author and expert on sea glass on Saturday, October 10 at the Calvert Marine Museum’s, Patuxent River Appreciation Days. He will be doing a book signing from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
LaMotte, who resides in Chestertown Maryland, has recently released his newest book, “The Lure of Sea Glass: Our Connection to Nature’s Gems.” Shared stories and anecdotes from sea glass enthusiasts over the years was the inspiration for this book’s focus on the emotional side of sea glass. This latest book is a sequel to his classic, “Pure Sea Glass: Discovering Nature’s Vanishing Gems,” published in 2004, which contributed to the popularity of collecting glass treasures from the sea.
LaMotte and his family have collected more than 40,000 pieces of sea glass, much of it from the Chesapeake Bay. He has produced calendars, note cards, identification cards, and other products featuring photographs and information about the best and most beautiful sea glass ever collected. Purchase these items, along with a signed copy of “The Lure of Sea Glass: Our Connection to Nature’s Gems” in the Museum Store. His work has been featured in magazines including Coastal Living, Parade, and Delaware Beach Life.
