NOVEMBER EVENTS AT CMM

A chill is in the air and it’s the perfect time to visit the Calvert Marine Museum. There are activities and events for all members of the family. For a complete listing of programs, visit the website at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com.

Tuesday, November 3, Thursday, November 5, and Wednesday, November 11
Sea Squirts - 10:00-10:30 a.m. and 11:00-11:30 a.m. Leaves, Leaves, Falling Down. Trees grow tall to reach the sun, put down deep roots, and are lush and green in warmer months, but what happens in winter? Through movement, story, and song, learn about trees and have fun playing with leaves. Program includes a walk around the grounds.

Friday, November 6 – First Free Friday
5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The museum is open and free to the public. Join Song Circle for a jam session and sing-along in the Harms Gallery at 6:00 p.m. Docents will be in every gallery.

Sunday, November 8 – “On Watch” Memorial Service

Wednesday, November 11 – Military Appreciation Day
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Join us as we celebrate and honor America’s veterans. Come and learn about the contributions of Maryland’s veterans through the ages as well as Solomons Island’s unique contribution to America’s Second World War efforts. Family friendly activities will be continuing all day and will include letter writing by children for veteran organizations and yellow ribbons for current service members. Museum admission is free for veterans, active military and their families.

Friday, November 13 – Sea Squirts

Thursday, November 19 – Little Minnows
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Autumn Time Is Here! The weather is starting to get cooler and trees are changing colors. It must be autumn! The trees and animals prepare for winter. How many signs can we find that winter is coming by exploring the grounds? We will make a leaf magnet, hear a story and play a game to learn about autumn.

Friday, November 20 – Maritime Performance Series presents BUMPER JACKSONS
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. Tickets are $10 per person in advance; $15 at the door. Returning after last year’s sold out performance, Bumper Jacksons early jazz and country repertoire paints America's story from New Orleans' brothels to Appalachian hollers. Recognized as DC’s “Best Traditional Folk Band” at the 2013 Washington Area Music Awards, the group has positioned themselves squarely at the helm of the young roots music scene in DC.
