HOMESCHOOL DAY
Wednesday, October 28 at the Calvert Marine Museum
Homeschooled families are invited to the Calvert Marine Museum (CMM) on Wednesday, October 28 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. CMM is teaming up with the Southern Maryland Audubon Society to teach students about the critical role of migration. Children age 5 to 12 can participate in special hands-on stations and workshops to learn about the birds and marine animals that migrate into or out of the Chesapeake Bay. Fee is museum admission (members have free admission) plus a $2 program fee per child. Onsite registration begins at 10:00 a.m. in the lobby.
Come meet Ernie Willoughby, an Ornithologist with the Southern Maryland Audubon Society, and discover exactly what an ornithologist does.
During Homeschool Day, participants will explore activities and games discovering the various problems migrating animals have on their journey, why animals relocate seasonally, and see how scientists are tracking song bird migration using Geolocators.
There are on-going activities throughout the morning, as well as scheduled activities. The full schedule is available on the museum website at www.bit.ly//HomeschoolCMM.
